Tension can be very uncomfortable, however, you can do these simple neck stretches in order to try and relieve this tension. These exercises are to be done very carefully as the neck is a very sensitive part of the body. If you have any neck injuries, you should see a health practitioner first before attempting these stretches. In addition, you should do the stretches in a careful and controlled manner because you should not bounce or jerk your body during the stretches.
Stretch 1: which stretches the back of the neck and the sides of your neck, you should bend your head forward and to the side. At the same time, place your hand at the back of your head to pull down your head and help with the stretch. This should not be painful or uncomfortable but should be done carefully. If you are pulling to the left side, you should feel the stretch along the right side of your neck, and vice versa. Hold this for 30 to 60 seconds. Repeat this stretch on the other side of your neck.

Stretch 2: stretches the back of your neck. With your back straight and upright, bend your head forward and place your hands, with fingers interlocked, at the back of your head. Without pulling your head, allow the weight of your arms to bring your head down as you bring your elbows together. This should feel comfortable and not forced. Hold for 30 seconds as you feel the stretch in the back of your neck and upper back, then do it again 2 or 3 more times.
